Friday Favourites #18

HAPPY FRIDAY MY LITTLE BEAUTIES!

First up on my Friday favourites for this week is Botanics Skin Calming Night Cream from Boots. I have used this before a while a go and I loved it. But when I ran out for some reason I didn't replace it. I have no idea why as it works wonders for my skin. Sometimes my face can go a little angry and red, but this contains "calming marshmallow" (yummy) and it completely evens out my skin tone and I have no longer have red patches. I haven't wore foundation for the past two days because I feel confident enough without it - Horraaay!

Next up is a new product for me. I needed to replace my Simple face wash and for some reason I decided to try something different to the usual one I use. I opted for the Simple Foaming Cleanser and I question why I haven't used this before! It's so light on my sensitive skin and leaves it feeling so squeeky clean! I will definitely be sticking to this one from now on.

Now as I'm sure you're all aware, I saw Ellie Goulding last Sunday. Chloe Howl was her support act and my goodness she was amazing. She was a true performer and was genuinely passionate about what she was doing. I've listened to a couple of her songs on YouTube and would definitely say she's worth checking out! Her track Rumour has been released so if you like what you hear, download this one!

Let me know in the comments box below if you were at the Ellie Goulding Concert - I would love to hear what you thought of it and Chloe Howl :)

101 Things in 1001 Days #71

For my Birthday (in October) Nick surprised me with Ellie Goulding tickets!! I absolutely love her music and think she is a goddess, so I was insanely excited when Nick told me. Although it seemed like it would take forever for the day to arrive, it actually came around so quickly - it felt like I had an extra Birthday! I've been to my fair share of Music Concerts but I think this was up there with one of my all time best experiences!

I didn't get many videos or photos, I was too busy enjoying the actual experience - I never understand why people go to a Music Concert and spend the whole time watching it through their phones. But to see a few, check out my Instagram. Chloe Howl was the support artist, who I thought was absolutely great. She clearly loved what she was doing and was the perfect warm up before Ellie Goulding came out.

When Ellie Goulding came out she was absolutely amazing, beginning her performance with Figure 8 (one of my favourites). It was all so upbeat as she was dancing around on stage. She did slow it down at one point to perform Your Song & How Long Will I Love You. She also performed some older tracks - Starry Eyed, Guns & Horses, Lights & The Writer - which everyone went crazy for! She just came across as such a lovely person, and at one point said "..this is so amazing, I could cry. So I better sing instead...". Her perfromance came to an end with a confetti shower during Burn, amazing!
Photo taken from Google - not mine (I wish I was that close!)
Can you tell that I love her? Overall, it was such an amazing experience and the best Birthday Present EVER. I just want to do it all over again! Have you been to any great Music Concerts recently?

Friday Favourites #14

Happy Friday My Lovelies!

This week I have been super busy working (so I can earn some pennies!) and doing Uni work. Stress. So I do apologise for neglecting my blog this week - hopefully I'll bring you some more exciting posts next week!

First on my list of Friday Favourites for this week is....the Winter Olympics of course! I have been watching it at every spare moment I get! I have been loving the Figure Skating (obviously) and the Snowboarding. Although watching it does make me so envious that I am not as talented as these amazing Athletes. I love sport and was always so sporty as a child...but it kind of wore off as my studies began to take over my life. Perhaps when I finish University I can get back into it - maybe even become a Top Figure Skater in time for the next Winter Olympics. A girl can dream, right? And don't forget, today is Torvill & Deans Anniversary - 30 years ago today they won Olympic Gold!

Torvill & Dean - Image taken from BBC News

The next two are another of my new favourite songs. I feel I may just have to start doing a seperate music post every now and again to summerise my favourites as music is popping up a lot recently. Anyway, I have always been a fan of Bombay Bicycle Club and I know their track Luna has been out for a while now but I am absolutely loving it. It is definitely my favourite of their tracks so far - and the video makes me want to go swimming! Another great track is American Authors - Best Day of My Life. This was on an advert right? I can't remember which one but I have been hearing this a lot on Radio1 recently - aka the source of all amazing music - and it's another great, feel good tune! I have added both of the YouTube videos for these tracks below. Let me know what you all think :)

Outnumbered has always been a complete favourite of mine and the recent series on BBC Two is as funny as always! I still can't get over how much Karen has changed! But Ben is still as witty (and slightly odd) as usual and the whole crazy family storylines are so realistic and have me in stitches. I think this is a programme everyone can appreciate and if you haven't seen it yet, catch up on BBC iPlayer - and get all the other series on DVD (as I think the earlier series are the funniest!)

Okay so just one more song - goodness I am treating you all this week. I heard this song for the first time this morning on Radio1 and it's so great that I couldn't possibly wait until next weeks Friday Favourites to share it with you all! So my last one for this week is Recover by Chvrches - It's one of those songs that I loved it immediately. I can't tell you why, because I don't know why. I just love it. What do you guys think?

I hope you have enjoyed my extremely lengthy Friday Favourites this week. Let me know what you think of my three favourite songs & please do tell me what you can't stop listening to recently. I love stumbling across new tracks!

Friday Favourites #13

This week, I tuned into Fearne Cottons Radio1 Show for the first time in such a long long time. I absolutely love Fearne and she always plays music that I always fall in love with. The first song she played on Tuesday's show was Riptide by Vance Joy and I immediately loved it! I have been listening to it all week and cannot get it out of my head. I can always rely on Fearne to introduce me to new music - she never lets me down! Check out the video below and let me know what you think.

Next up is BBC Three Series Pramface. I watched this AGES ago when series one was first released. I swear after series one it just disappeared for a really long time - unless I was just completely clueless and somehow managed to miss it. So I have been catching up with series two on BBC iPlayer. If you haven't watched it before I would definitely recommend it. It's such easy watching and is slightly comical in places. I loved series one, but series two is probably the funniest of the two. Have you seen it before? Let me know what you think.

This week my beloved MAC Fluidline Liquid Eyeliner ran out (boohoo) so I have started using SmashBox Jet Set Waterproof Eyeliner. I purchased this from an outlet makeup store in Swindon Outlet Centre when I went to visit Hannah last summer . It was £11.50 and the girls working in the store said it was exactly the same if not better than the MAC Fluidline (rrp £15). Currently I am loving it. It is a great product which I am proud to have in my Beauty Box. The packaging is a little plasticy and tacky - if that makes sense - compared to the glass packaging used for the MAC eyeliner, but other than that it is perfect. It stays on really well all day (just like the MAC version) and considering its Waterproof, it isn't difficult to get off at night.

What would you include on your Friday Favourites for this week?

Music Festival Wish List

As I'm sure many of you already know, I have a major love for Music and Festivals! Unfortunately, I have only ever done Glastonbury Festival as it's so close to where I live (and so amazing). So I'm not sure how I would find going to a different one. I have been twice now and will be going again this year too! But as I have said in my 101 Things list, I do actually want to go to a Music Festival that isn't Glastonbury! So I decided to do a little research to figure out which ones I would like to attend in the future - kind of like a Wish List! Let me know if you have been to any of these and if they are worth going to!

Bestival is a four day Music Festival held in Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight. It takes place in September, which I think this would be an awesome way to end the Summer! With tickets costing £195 plus a booking fee, it is up there with the more expensive Music Festivals, but in my opinion it is usually worth every penny. I cannot think of anything better than chilling out in the sun (or rain) with a can of cider (or beverage of your choice) listening to Live Music! Previous acts include Snoop Dogg, Bastille, Florence & the Machine, Two Door Cinema Club & Ellie Goulding. It all sounds pretty amazing too me; this may well be one for me to seriously consider in the future! Have you ever been to Bestival? Let me know what you thought of it, or whether it's a Festival you would like to go to as well.

This is a Music Festival that is a little more local to my home (taking place on the Wiltshire/Dorset border) and I therefore question why I have never been! It has been described as one of the most family-friendly festivals around, so I doubt there would be any worries of the occasional odd ball approaching you & offering you drugs (this sometimes happens at Glastonbury - Sorry Mr Eavis). This Festival last for five days, with live music playing on all of those days! Many of the previous acts who have played I do not recognise; but there are a couple of familiar names such as Van Morrison, KT Tunstall & Paloma Faith. However, with Comedians such as Russell Kane, Tim Minchin & Alistar McGowan having made previous appearances, the idea of going to this Festival is quickly growing on me. And as well as this, they also have a Secret Garden area that offers Swedish & Thai Massages & Indian Head Massages!! Wow. It is clear that Larmer Tree Festival offers plently more than just Music!

The Reading and Leeds Festivals take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend, sharing the same acts. Such a random yet excellent idea as it allows people from opposite ends of the UK to enjoy the Festival! Having looked at the previous headliners and with some of this years acts having been announced, this is probably the most suitable to my music taste. I don't actually know many people who have been here, so if you have please let me know what you think of it - I would love to hear from you in the comments box below.

 Radio1's Big Weekend

I am absolutely dying to go to the Radio1 Big Weekend one year. I'm sure you are all aware, but just incase you aren't, Radio1's Big Weekend is a Music Festival run my Radio1 and is held in a different location each year. You cannot buy tickets. You have to register to apply for tickets which are completely free, but allocated at random. This years festival is in Glasgow and I would love to go. I have never been before and I think the fact that although they have 60,000 tickets to give away, it is still so exclusive. I register every year and am yet to be lucky enough to get a ticket! As one of the biggest free ticketed music events in Europe, I think it would be an amazing experience as well as a once in a life time opportunity - as the chances of being allocated a free ticket more than once is probably pretty slim! Have you ever been?

So that is my Music Festival Wish List. Let me know if you have been to any of these yourself, or if you have any others that you would recommend.

Friday Favourites #12

For a while now, I have had a growing obsession with Matte Nails - which is made clear on my Pinterest! This all began when my sister (who is a Beauty Therapist) informed me that she had a new OPI Topcoat that creates a Matte look on your nails. So as I was home last week, I got my nails done (Yay!). I actually had Gel overlays (as these last about three weeks and don't chip like standard nail varnish) but the Matte Topcoat works on Gels too! Horaaayy! It dries instantly as well, so there was no need for me to sit around waiting for them to dry. I opted for Big Red Apple and I am really pleased with them - what do you think of Matte Nails?
As I was back in the lovely Somerset last week, I decided it was only right to go for a walk to enjoy the countryside. It sounds quite old fashioned, but I love walking. It's such a lovely way to clear your head and forget all the stresses of every day life. I always use to go walking with my Family when I was growing up too, so perhaps this is why I enjoy it too! And I'm pretty sure it is one of the most effective ways of exercising...maybe? Anyway, last weekend Nick chose to take me to Cadbury Castle - FYI there is no Castle at all which as you can imagine is quite disappointing when you are expecting to see Castle ruins or something! It is where there use to be a Castle...I think they need to consider changing the name. But anyway, after the initial disappointment, it was actually a really lovely walk and we got some great photos (this makes us sound like such an old couple - how embarressing).

Bit old school, but this week I am loving Ed Sheerans Album "+". I have done a massive clear out of my iTunes and as well as deleting a whole load of shocking music (who is DJ Ear Worm please?) I also discovered some forgotten gems! I loved this album when it was first released and listening to it again has just reminded me how truely talented Ed Sheeran is. Along with his album, I also discovered some beautiful covers too - there really is nothing this guy cannot do!

Sam Smith is my last Friday Favourite this week. I had heard of Sam Smith before (he featured on Disclosures song Latch & Naughty Boys La La La), so he wasn't completely new to me. I believe critics have also been saying he is going to be a big deal this year, so watch this space. I first heard this particular song when my 2 year old neice started singing it...apparently it's her favourite song at the moment (fingers crossed she takes after her Aunty ZoZo and is a lover of music!). My sister told me to YouTube it and I was really impressed. Having only heard his voice featuring on songs before, I wasn't sure what to expect but I have been listening to this song constantly and can't get it out of my head. What do you think?

Have you discovered any good artists / bands recently? Let me know in the comments box below, I love hearing from you all.

Friday Favourites #9

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I am particularly happy today because tonight I get to have a fun filled girly night with the wonderful Miss Hannah - and it's only a week until exam stress is over! To help keep me calm & stress free during exams, I have been burning this Balis & Harding Candle that Nick got me for Christmas. It is Wild Bluebell & Jasmine and smells so amazing! My room smells lovely during and after burning - I think this one will be getting replaced as soon as it is finished. Although, I have been burning it all week and it isn't even a third of the way down yet, so I'm guessing it is going to last me a while - even better!

Next is a necklace I have been wearing literally everyday since Christmas! It was a present from my Mum which she picked up in Dorothy Perkins. If I am being completely honest, I am not a massive fan of Dorothy Perkins and often think of it to be quite a "mumsie" shop (hense why my Mum was probably in there) but this is the cutest necklace and I was so impressed when I saw where it was from on the tag. I think I am definitely going to have to go in there during my next shopping trip to check out their jewellery. Well done Mum!

My final Friday Favourite for this week is Mumford & Sons! They have always been a favourite of mine and last year I was lucky enough to see them twice, in two weeks! I would highly recommend seeing them, they are by far one of the best bands I have seen live - and being a two time attendee of Glastonbury that is a very bold statement! They are such a feel good band with so much energy. I have found myself constently listening to them recently as their songs hold such amazing memories which keeps me positive during stressy exam period at Uni. So if you haven't already checked them out (I'm not sure where you have been if you haven't) then please have a listen! And if you are toying with the idea of seeing them live - DO IT! Especially if they are playing at any festivals this summer, as they are the perfect music festival band. I'm praying that they will be at Glasonbury Festival this year - which would make it there 5th or 6th appearance there? I think? It could happen though right?

Who are your feel good bands/artists that make stressful times that little bit better?

Friday Favourites #1

To make sure I stick to blogging regularly, I have decided to introduce my Friday Favourites. I will blog once a week (alongside other random posts) to update you on all my favourite things! So here we go...

This week I have discoved my love for The 1975. The Manchester (UK) based rock/indie band have been helping me through the stresses of my final year and I literally cannot get enough of them! My favourite song is "Girls".

Next on the list is Cats Wearing Tights. Yes this is a real thing and yes it does provide me with hours of entertainment! I stumbled across the Facebook page last week and find it is a great way to avoid doing anything productive!

Last on my list of Friday Favourites this week is my new Sleek Lipstick! I am new to Sleek products and after deciding I definitely needed some new make up, I took advantage of the 3 for 2 offer at Superdrug. I ordered the Contour Kit (in Light), the Au Naturel iDivine Palette & the Barely There Lipstick. I'll be honest, I ordered the lipstick to make up the offer but I am so pleased I did. It gives a light pinky colour to my lips & goes on so easily. Obviously you do need to reapply this one - however for the price (£4.99) I never expected this one to stay put. I will definitely be ordering more lipsticks from Sleek in future!

What would you include on your Friday Favourites list?

What Has ZoFlo Been Upto This Year?

I thought it would be a good idea to show you a few things I got up to throughout 2013, so you can get to know a little more about me!

So one of my New Years Resolutions at the beginning of 2013 was to be a little more spontaneous and adventurous! Sometimes I can be quite shy and reserved, but this year I wanted to spend more time doing things with the people I love most (aww / vom).

So my New Year kick started when I recieved an email saying I had been allocated two free tickets for Dancing on Ice (I applied for them on SRO Audiences). After reminding myself of my New Years Resolution, I thought YOLO (yes - I just used yolo!). I dragged my beautiful friend Hannah along with me and after a long wait (Sorry Han) we actually made it into the venue and got seats! We weren't sat together but we still got to see Dancing on Ice live. And to top it all off, the Philip Schofield replied to one of my tweets...IN PERSON! I actually met the real life Silver Fox. I wanted to cry (as you can tell, I'm a big fan!).

At the end of 2012, my little sister asked if I would run the Bath Half Marathon with her. Already aware that I wanted to be more spontaneous as well as get fit, I decided to sign up. At the beginning of 2013, I decided to take it a little more seriously and up my training sessions. I was in the gym most evenings and even found myself getting up at 5:30am to go running before work! It was hard work but with a finish time of 2 Hours 26 Minutes I was pretty pleased with myself. I loved the challange as well as the feel good factor of raising money for charity!

Iron Man 3
As I was on my placement year at The Walt Disney Company, I wanted to make the most of my opportunities as an Intern. So when asked if I wanted to attend the Iron Man 3 Premiere I obviously said yes! From a sensible, work perspective, it was amazing to see the work that goes into such high profile events and the stress everyone is under. From a excited, 23 year old perspective, it was amazing to be walking on the red carpet with the likes of Robert Downy Junior, Dermot O'Leary & Alex Zane (Wow, wow, wow).

Next up was Glastonbury Festival! As most of my friends & family already know, I am obsessed with Glastonbury Festival! This was my second year attending the festival, however my first experience wasn't too good. You definitely need to make sure you go with all the right people to these kinds of events! This time I wanted to explore ALL of Glastonbury - not just sit in my tent all day. I can honestly say I had the most amazing time. I went with my best friend and younger sister (and their boyfriends) and we really made the most of it. Chilling in the Circus & Theatre Fields & the Field of Avalon during the day, but still making sure we didn't miss all our favourite bands! At night we would sit around our campsite next to our giant candles - it was so chilled! I have managed to secure my ticket for next year and am so excited!

Glasto 2013: My Sister, My Best Friend & Me!
Glasto 2013: Arctic Monkeys on the Pyramid Stage.
So I should tell you that just before Glastonbury Festival, I started talking to Nick (now my boyfriend of 4 months). After a successful first date, he invited me on a second date to The Olympic Park Live concert where Vampire Weekend, Ben Howard & Mumford and Sons were playing (amazing second date!). I was a little apprehensive at first because 1) I had seen all these bands the week before at Glastonbury, 2) this would mean staying the night in a hotel with him and 3) was this too much to accept too soon? Luckily I decided to just go for it - I liked this guy & he must of liked me to ask me on a second date, right? It was such an amazing time and the atmosphere was incredible! I loved every minute of it and I am so glad I agreed to go!

July 2013: Me & Nick

My final exciting encounter for 2013 (so far anyway) was a Secret Gig at my University! This was advertised as a guest speaker that would be giving an inspirational talk to students at our SU Bar. There were limited spaces available and as me and my friend Elena are in our final year, we decided to be keen and see if this guest speaker could inspire us! The SU Bar soon filled up and with rumours flying around that it was going to be Tinie Tempah, we were getting excited. After a short wait and an introductory speech from our Student Union, it was of course a Secret Gig by Tinie Tempah! I think the fact that this was free made it a million times more exciting! He did a very energetic half an hour set, including a mixture of all his songs. It was very surreal going to a gig at 3pm but it was amazing. See, sometimes being keen and attended extra talks can pay off!

Those were just a handful of the exciting things I have done this year! I think I did really well at sticking to my New Years Resolution and have so many great memories to show for it! If you're a little like me and shy away from doing crazy things - you should honestly just go for it! I've had such an amazing year with all my friends & family and will definitely make sure I say yes to more things in the future!

Let me know if you have said yes to anything out of the ordinary!
